IGNITE CHURCH HAWAII

What We Believe

Core Beliefs

A key principle we will live with is, we will focus on the things that unite us, not the things that divide us. We must remember that we’re not the potter, God is. There are some essentials that we will agree on. The following is a simple listing.

About God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords.
Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

About The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christ-Follower with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christ-Follower seeks to live under His control daily.
2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1

About The Bible

The Bible is God’s word to all mankind. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

About Mankind

We are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. We are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although we have tremendous potential for good, we are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin". This attitude separates us from God.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2

About Eternity

We are created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23;
Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46

About Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to all people. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can we be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith.
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12;
Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

About Eternal Security

Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, we are secure in eternal salvation.
Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by our self-effort.
It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.
John 10:29; 2 Timothy  1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5

About Water Baptism

We believe water baptism is the outward symbol of the cleansing power of
the blood of Christ and a testimony to our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:9; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12; Acts 8:38-39; Acts 18:8

About Communion

We believe in the regular taking of Communion as an act of
remembering what the Lord Jesus did for us on the cross.
1 Corinthians 11:23-29

About Growing Relationships

We believe every believer should be in a growing relationship with Jesus by obeying
God's Word, yielding to the Holy Spirit and being conformed to the image
of Christ. Committed to God and connected to leadership.

Salvation

Doomed by our sin, we were separated from God and cut off from the richness of His blessings.
God, because of His great love for us, wrapped Himself in humanity and came to earth as a simple man — Jesus.
He lived and dwelt among us and eventually sacrificed Himself, all because of His great love for each of us.
The cost of our sin was His life, and He gave it that we might receive salvation through Him.

John 3:16, one of the most famous scriptures, illustrates just this, “For God so loved the world, that He gave
His one and only son. That whoever believes in Him, will not perish but have everlasting life.”

Jesus became the bridge between mankind and God so that we can have a relationship with the Father.
He is our Savior, our healer, and our friend. Jesus came that we might have a more abundant life.
He came to carry our weaknesses, our sickness, our pain, so that we can walk in total freedom,
peace, power and purpose. Jesus is more than a historical figure or a great teacher who once lived.
He conquered death so that we might live. We don’t have to earn His love and salvation,
its’ a free gift available to all who will believe. Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with us.
All we have to do is receive it by faith, and come to Him just the way we are.

A New Life In Christ

Now that you have made the most important decision of your life, it’s important to make a few
changes to keep your life on track with Christ. First, make today a day of new beginnings and a new direction
in your life and don’t look back! Know this, God has forgiven and forgotten your past and has a bright
future ahead of you. Romans 8:1 says there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
God’s Word says as far as the east is from the west, so your sins are from His memory.
So when condemning voices remind you of your past, don’t forget, God no longer
remembers your sin anymore so remind the devil of your future, BRIGHT!

Second, give us 120 days of your life and commit to God and connect with Ignite Church Hawaii (HI)

Prayer Request

What's on your heart and mind? What struggles are you facing? What are your deepest concerns? In whatever way you answer these questions, you can take these concerns to the Lord. As scripture reminds us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

What's more, you can have someone else join you in taking your concerns to the Lord. We want to be a part of your prayer life by praying with you and for you. You may be walking through many storms of life, seeking God's direction for your life or feel so blessed by each breath you take, you don't know what to do with yourself. Whatever the case may be, our family is here for you to share in your pleasure and your praise. You can be assured, God is listening. As Jesus said Himself, "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:19-20
